Electric cars by big manufacturers who usually make motor vehicles

In today’s article we are not exploring the market, looking for fresh releases and new
models. Instead, we wanted to focus on electric cars that are already out there and you may
probably never heard of them, despite the fact that they were made by popular
manufacturers who usually design traditional, petrol cars. In case you have only been
following the companies who switched to EV completely (which, for the record, we can’t be
mad about), here are some interesting models of electric cars from the biggest auto
manufacturers! We are curious which cars you have and haven’t heard about.

#1 Toyota i-ROAD

This small, interestingly looking car is often compared to a tricycle or a toy car (because of its
three wheels), but it’s a serious vehicle with a fantastic urban mobility. Thanks to its size, and
it is just 870 mm wide, it can smoothly maneuver through the streets and lanes. You can
park it almost anywhere as it doesn’t take much space. It is said that driving this car feels like
riding a motorbike, which must be an interesting experience. Surely the roof over your head
and lack of need for helmet are benefits of this car. Its front wheels are powered by a 2.7-hp
in-hub electric motor ran by a lithium-ion battery. This model has been around for 4 years
already!

#2 Toyota iQ EV

Also Toyota’s model, this one is actually a traditional four-wheeler car. It can fit up to 4
people inside and is very spacious. It has a range of 53 miles (85 km), can recharge in 3 to 4
hours and is powered by 11.6kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

#3 Volkswagen I.D. BUZZ

Unveiled last year, this is a unique and original all-electric car. It has a retro design inspired
by the popular and iconic 70s VW microbus. This version offers automated driving mode and
a digitized cargo system. It’s not only a superb electric car, it also uses photovoltaics - system
which allows to extend the vehicle’s range by up to 9.3 miles (15 km) a day. It’s definitely
one of the most interesting inventions we have stumbled upon.

#4 Volkswagen ABT e-Caddy

Another spacious and designer model of electric vehicle is the zero-emissions ABT e-Caddy.
The car features an 82kW electric motor with a manufacturer claimed range of 137 miles
(220 km). It offers so much space that it is perfect as a family car or taxi as it can fit up to five
people plus luggage.

#5 General Motor Chevrolet Bolt EV

The Chevrolet Bolt EV is the company’s first commercial electric vehicle - a mid-sized
hatchback car. It’s benefit is that it can reach a 238 miles (383 km) on a single charge. Also, it
is quite affordable in comparison to many models out there. It’s the first all-electric car by
GM which has announced that by 2023 it will stich completely to all electric fleet. We are
curious what else the company will offer in the future.

#6 General Motor Baojun E100

This is another compact model for fans of small and mobile vehicles. It is an urban car
perfect for city driving. It was created in collaboration with Chinese automaker. This
compact EV costs only around $5,300. It can run up to 96 miles (155 km) on a single charge.
The main goal for this model was to entice Chinese citizens to buy EVs, but we are guessing
that there are more people from all over the world who would also be intersted in buying
such compact car.
